Teach Supply serves teachers, school staff and families with a wide range of abilities and devices. We want everyone to be able to browse our catalog, read our policies and place an order without barriers.
Our Commitment
We aim for our website, teachingsupply.store, to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities, including people who are blind or have low vision, people who are deaf or hard of hearing, and people with motor, speech or cognitive disabilities. Meeting them also tends to make the site easier for everyone to use, on any device.
What We Do
- Structure and text alternatives. Pages use meaningful headings and landmarks so screen reader users can move through them quickly, and product images include text descriptions.
- Keyboard access. Menus, product options, the cart and checkout are designed to be usable with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator showing where you are on the page.
- Readable color and type. We check text and buttons against WCAG color-contrast ratios and use text sizes and line spacing that stay readable when you zoom the page up to 200 percent.
- Clear forms. Checkout and account fields have visible labels, and error messages describe what needs to be fixed in plain language.
Ongoing Work
Accessibility is not a one-time project. When we add products, pages or features, we review them with keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom and screen reader software, and we fix the problems we find. Some parts of the checkout, such as secure payment fields, are provided by third-party services; we choose services that support accessible use and report any issues we find to them.
Despite our efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. If you run into a barrier, we want to hear about it so we can fix it.
